San Juan Veterinary Clinic is pleased to offer endodontic dental treatments to include root canals and vital pulpectomies to our patients. Dr. VanDerwalker recently completed advanced training in Endodontics, Oral Pathology, and Radiology at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland. This training, in addition to his experience performing root canal dental treatments on working dogs for the U.S. Army, is a welcomed addition to our advanced dental practice.
Endodontic treatment is necessary in the restoration and preservation of vital teeth within the mouths of dogs and cats to include canine and major chewing teeth (carnassial teeth). Dogs and cats who break their teeth from blunt trauma (frisbee throwing, tug toys, fights) and chewing on hard objects (elk and deer horns, hooves, rocks and hard chews) will highly benefit from these essential dental treatments.
